Focus on OSI Group 2016 Globe of Honour Award and Acquisition of Baho Food

OSI Group (OSI Food Solutions UK) scooped the 2016 Globe of Honor award. This celebrated award is given by the British Safety Council and the company scooped it due to their ideal environmental risks management. The winner was announced in a luncheon on November 25, 2016 held at the Drapers’ Hall, London. OSI Group was one of the 18 organizations feted on that day for their excellent and commendable environmental management.

What Did the Award Entail?

In order for any organization to be considered for the award, it had to first of all get a maximum of five stars in an audit scheme. The British Safety Council carried out an environmental management audit scheme running from August 2015 – July 2016. Further, the organization had to demonstrate their merit in environmental management before an independent panel of experts. The merit had to cover all the areas in the business from the ground floor up to the boardroom.


Lynda Armstrong OBE, the chair of the British Safety Council congratulated the OSI Group on scooping the award on behalf of all the council’s trustees and staff. She expounded about the prestige that comes with the award as it shows the good management applied by the organization on the prevailing environmental hazards. She expressed her delight on the high number of companies that bagged the award due to their adoption of an integrated approach in protecting the environment. Kelly Grimwood, OSI Group’s environmental manager Europe received the award from Mike Robinson, British Safety Council chief executive. OSI had previously won the award two times; 2013 and 2015.

OSI Group’s Acquisition of Baho Food

OSI Group announced its acquisition of Baho Food, a manufacturer of snacks, deli meats and convenience foods. Baho Food, a Dutch-based company, serves several retail segments and generally the food service. There were no transaction details released as far as the figures involved are concerned. David G. McDonald, OSI Group’s president and CEO, explained that the acquisition of Baho Food would enable OSI acquire a broader and better presence in the whole of Europe.

OSI Group will also have its present processing strengths complemented by the company’s products and brands thereby enabling it to meet the diverse and changing customer needs. John Balvers, Baho Food’s managing director will be retained by the company together with his management team. Together they will meet with the OSI Group team and formulate the best working strategy to move forward smoothly.
