Chairman & CEO Anthony Petrello of Nabors Industries Commits to Supporting the Texas Children’s Hospital

Anthony Petrello of Nabors Industries, a leader in proving drilling rigs and the largest drilling fleet rig in the world is devoted to family, business, and philanthropy. In 2007, Anthony Petrello and his wife Cynthia and Jan and Dan Duncan donated $50 million to start the first basic research institution, nationally and globally. The Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute at Texas Children’s Hospital finally opened its doors in 2010 to discover therapies to treat childhood neurological diseases.

Mr. Petrello and Mrs. Petrello are proud to support such causes after years of searching for a hospital to treat their young daughter. They eventually found the Texas Children’s Hospital, the only medical institution in the world to focus research on the brain for children. After therapy treatments at the facility, the Petrello family has recognized remarkable motor skill development in their daughter who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a neurological disease. Anthony Petrello is a member of the Hospital’s Board of Trustees and financially supports the Neurological Research Institute.

Texas Children’s Hospital and The Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute announced Mr. and Mrs. Petrello made a $7 million pledge. They have already donated $5 million of the pledge to help the institute further its studies to understand the pathogenesis of neurological diseases. Many scientists and physicians are working on common goals to develop therapy treatments to help children patients.

Mike Heiligeinstein’s Views on Improving Transportation in Austin Area

Recently, Williamson’s County Growth Summit had an ample opportunity to deeply discuss some of the challenges the transport sector has been facing in Austin area. The panel included prominent people like Executive Director of the Central Texas Region Mobility Authority Mike Heiligenstein, Argo Designs Jared Ficklin, Founder of Ride Scout LLC Joseph Kopser, and Leandre Johns who is the acting director of external affairs at Texas. This important discussion was carried out at the prestigious Sheraton Georgetown Texas Hotel & Conference Center. This great event was planned and organized to discuss technological changes in the transportation face, both in the Austin regions and the world in general.

 

Way Forward

 

During the discussion Mr. Heiligenstein mentioned some of the advanced technologies like ride sharing apps and driverless cars that can be used to improve and transform transportation infrastructure. He also went ahead to suggest that more modernized roads should be constructed in Austin area, so at to expand its transportation capacity.

 

Furthermore, he insisted that the construction of more modernized roads will create a great opportunity to provide better and affordable transport services, to the large and growing population in suburbs especially Williamson County. For the past 15 solid years, Williamson County has made great efforts to build up good roads. However, according to Mike Heiligenstein, the construction of roads should not stop due to the increasing population in the area.

 

In the discussion, Mr. Ficklin gave answers to what policy makers should work on to prepare for future trends and need of transport in Austin, Texas. He explained that drivers will still require roads, garages and parking areas even if they use automated vehicles. He stated that the present parking lots need renovation so as to fit the current code.

 

Great Mind in the Transportation Sector

 

Mike Heiligenstein is currently the acting Texas Executive Director of the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority. Following his extensive knowledge and great leadership skills, he also serves as the chief executive officer of International Bridge. Mr. Heiligenstein is known as a go getter and a man with deep passion in transportation.

 

Apart from working at very important position, he also serves as a member of the well-known Advisory Board of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute. Mike is also involved in several other institutes and committees that focus on transportation issues within the United States. Prior to taking the executive position at Mobility, Mike Heiligenstein worked at Williamson County for over 23 years. This therefore proves his extensive expertise in the transportation sector.

Focus on OSI Group 2016 Globe of Honour Award and Acquisition of Baho Food

OSI Group (OSI Food Solutions UK) scooped the 2016 Globe of Honor award. This celebrated award is given by the British Safety Council and the company scooped it due to their ideal environmental risks management. The winner was announced in a luncheon on November 25, 2016 held at the Drapers’ Hall, London. OSI Group was one of the 18 organizations feted on that day for their excellent and commendable environmental management.

What Did the Award Entail?

In order for any organization to be considered for the award, it had to first of all get a maximum of five stars in an audit scheme. The British Safety Council carried out an environmental management audit scheme running from August 2015 – July 2016. Further, the organization had to demonstrate their merit in environmental management before an independent panel of experts. The merit had to cover all the areas in the business from the ground floor up to the boardroom.

Reactions

Lynda Armstrong OBE, the chair of the British Safety Council congratulated the OSI Group on scooping the award on behalf of all the council’s trustees and staff. She expounded about the prestige that comes with the award as it shows the good management applied by the organization on the prevailing environmental hazards. She expressed her delight on the high number of companies that bagged the award due to their adoption of an integrated approach in protecting the environment. Kelly Grimwood, OSI Group’s environmental manager Europe received the award from Mike Robinson, British Safety Council chief executive. OSI had previously won the award two times; 2013 and 2015.

OSI Group’s Acquisition of Baho Food

OSI Group announced its acquisition of Baho Food, a manufacturer of snacks, deli meats and convenience foods. Baho Food, a Dutch-based company, serves several retail segments and generally the food service. There were no transaction details released as far as the figures involved are concerned. David G. McDonald, OSI Group’s president and CEO, explained that the acquisition of Baho Food would enable OSI acquire a broader and better presence in the whole of Europe.

OSI Group will also have its present processing strengths complemented by the company’s products and brands thereby enabling it to meet the diverse and changing customer needs. John Balvers, Baho Food’s managing director will be retained by the company together with his management team. Together they will meet with the OSI Group team and formulate the best working strategy to move forward smoothly.
